19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional title, took control to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
